Thoughts to Consider

Key ideas to keep in mind when discussing functional anatomy of the shoulder.

The Cervicothoracic Region

The spinal region closest to the shoulder is the cervicothoracic region. Posture plays a huge role in laying a foundation for optimal function of the shoulder complex.

The Scapulothoracic Region

Easily the most important region in the shoulder when it comes to overall shoulder health and stability.

The Glenohumeral Joint

This joint is the most mobile and also most commonly injured joint in the shoulder complex.

The Thoracolumbopelvic Region

Global stability is driven from this region. Without it, rehab strategies for the shoulder are less likely to be successful.
